Meaning behind the art: Laying out papers in a grid composition is a natural thing for me. Torn edges, cut edges, to all different sizes of squares and rectangles. This year little did I know when I did my vision board in January that feathers were going to be a thing, their so beautiful and amazing. Again I open up my box from the last workshop of sample papers I made and just went for the summer colors and of course anything with lines. This piece is more like summer spillage of warm colorful natural things, trees, feathers and stacking rocks to the pink healing ringlets.
Bio Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove IL not far from her grandfather’s farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 30 years. She’s continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has led her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region. Her works has won many awards and most recently the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit with the National Collage Society.
