Purchase a tote bag featuring the mixed media "A Playful Home" by Laura Lein-Svencner.   Our tote bags are made from soft, durable, poly-poplin fabric and include a 1" black strap for easy carrying on your shoulder.   All seams are double-stitched for added durability.   Each tote bag is machine-washable in cold water and is printed on both sides using the same image.

Artist's Description

Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, Gloss medium, graphite pencils, coffee filter paper with rust and hibiscus tea, stain tissue papers with acrylic painted and a medium mixture, painted drawing paper, painted coffee filters, gestural lines, glazing with acrylic, wax pastel crayons, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.

Meaning behind the art: How many ways can one work a square and triangle? Many ways I would say. Today when I was creating this piece I was in a playful mood and did not know what was going to coming up. Fall is the season and colors are popping all over the places. I resort to the basics and that’s color, shapes, value and sometimes a theme as the house/home theme. I just love the way the tissue paper fold and create areas for the glazing and shadowing to hang out. I also challenged myself with the coffee filter paper that was so different from the other solid color papers. I asked myself if this could work? And how could it work? Not that you...

Laura Lein-Svencner

Bio Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove IL not far from her grandfather’s farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 30 years. She’s continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has led her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region. Her works has won many awards and most recently the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit with the National Collage Society.
