Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, polymer medium, acrylics, stained tissue paper, old book page, handmade papers, printed deli papers, painted nautical map, altered magazine with Nevr Dull, stamping with homemade stamps and acrylics, wax pastel crayons, sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.
Meaning behind the art: The husband gave the gift of going to many art receptions this weekend. Being I’ve been creating some over 20 years and he sees my work all the time that was a wonderful gift. He had many things he could have been doing but he choose to be with me. We finished off each day with a trip through a resale shop of sorts and a few antique shops. I like to call it “junkin.” It was great to see the past together and by then end of each day we were exhausted. So the symbol of love is a Heart and this whole weekend was a Joy.
Bio Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove IL not far from her grandfather’s farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 30 years. She’s continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has led her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region. Her works has won many awards and most recently the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit with the National Collage Society.
