Materials Used: 140lb. Watercolor paper, gloss medium, deli paper with gloss medium resist and acrylic paints, white gift bag with gesso resist, shadowing with acrylics glazing, stitching with black threads and lines drawn with graphite pencil, all sealed with a layer of UV satin varnished.
Meaning behind the art: A few days past Thanksgiving and we had a big wet snowstorm, the kind of snow that is like a slushy drink. Some areas it was different and there was more snow. The winds where blowing so hard our maple trees did a big sheading on the roof and around the back yard. This is my abstract way I’ve felt the whole experience.
Bio Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove IL not far from her grandfather’s farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 30 years. She’s continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has led her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region. Her works has won many awards and most recently the 27th Annual Juried Exhibit with the National Collage Society.
